#15 Masterclass on ‘NBS FinLink: Connecting Cities with Climate Finance Opportunities’

October 30 @ 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Nature-based Solutions (NbS) offer cities a pathway to address climate challenges such as urban heat, flooding, and water scarcity while delivering wider environmental and social benefits. However, identifying and accessing suitable funding pathways remains one of the key barriers to implement at scale and support long-term sustenance. Addressing this barrier requires bridging relevant information gap to enable stakeholders to identify potential financing opportunities that support adoption of NbS interventions in Indian cities. Hence, to address this barrier, the NbS-FinLink tool was developed under the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) Climate Projects Preparation Facility (CPPF) initiative. The masterclass will introduce participants to the tool and demonstrate how it can help explore relevant funding sources for varied typologies of NbS interventions across different geographies and access needful information to tap funding from these sources.

What the Masterclass Covers:

  1. Introduction to Climate Projects Preparation Facility (CPPF)
  2. Case Examples: Projects prepared
  3. Demonstration of the NbS FinLink tool

Who is this Masterclass for

  1. Government officials, urban planners and city engineers looking to adopt NbS interventions at scale for addressing climate risks such as heat, floods, water scarcity and pollution.
  2. Researchers and students in urban ecology, geography, or environmental science.
  3. Civil society organizations and resident welfare associations (RWAs) interested in adopting NbS interventions in their neighborhoods.
  4. Practitioners and policymakers engaged with City Climate Action Plans and urban resilience.
