SUMMARY:First convening of the Steering Committee
DESCRIPTION:The first convening of the Steering Committee of the India Forum for Nature-based Solutions agreed upon governance structures and the roles and responsibilities of the Steering Committee\, the Secretariat and the Task Forces. The partners committed to ‘Climate Proofing 100 million residents and infrastructure worth $100 billion in Indian cities by 2030.’ This sets a clear timebound ambition to mainstream ecosystem services and nature-based solutions to build urban climate resilience in India. For more information\, click here. \nThe Steering Committee also constituted four taskforces: \n\n\nCollective Building – For engaging with stakeholders at all levels and garnering greater interest towards the Forum and its activities.\n\n\nKnowledge – For developing relevant knowledge products and tools to fill the knowledge gaps that currently exist in the urban NbS ecosystem.\n\n\nCapacity Building – Capacitating key stakeholders through multiple modes of training\, covering a wide array of key knowledge subjects.\n\n\nPrivate Sector Engagement – Engage with the private sector to facilitate cross-learning and drive the operationalisation of potential urban NbS projects.

SUMMARY:Panel Discussion: Operationalizing Nature-Based Solutions for Mitigation and Adaptation
DESCRIPTION:Extreme climate events are increasingly posing a severe risk for Indian cities\, and with 75% of India’s 2050 infrastructure still to be built\, building climate-resilient infrastructure becomes key. This panel discussion spotlights the critical necessity of urban NbS in India\, the challenges associated with it\, and the way forward actions needed to mainstream NbS interventions in cities.
